July 6th
About an hour hike by trail from where we are moored there is a rustic old shed where boaters strategically leave behind some kind of representation of their visit to the area. It is usually a piece of wood decorated with the name of the boat and crew, the date, and the name of their home port. Keeping with the tradition, as we have done during previous visits to the island, we packed our board up the trail and hung it proudly from the ceiling, proclaiming that Chris, Lindy, Max and Tiki of Sea Mist were there on July 6th 2010. The board that we left was one made for us at the Historical Sea Port in Aberdeen by Harbor High students and Lila Jernstrom. We continued our hike to the far tip of the island and back. It was a long hike but the breathtaking views from the ridges made it well worthwhile. We even found a few open areas where Max could play ball.
